Some of the new features:
- nearly alias-free analog oscillators
- pulse width control on the square oscillator
- all the filters have been re-written and have been fattened up quite a bit
- several wave-shapers
- ADSR envelope editor
- note on/off for sustained notes
- multi-page/octave sequencer
- you can now draw notes/modulation in the sequencer
- recording into the sequencer via the midi keys
- sample recording/re-sampling
- full featured sampler
- and manymore…
Jasuto is still under pretty heavy development, so it will be improving/changing quite often. Feedback will certainly have an influence over the development direction.
Jasuto is the first truly modular synthesizer for the iPhone and is basically the 2nd coming of my previous modular synth experiment known asMode
There are several main design goals that I wanted to achieve with this.
The first goal was to make synth building fun and easy all while adding some unpredictability to the process. I’ve come up with some amazing sounds almost by accident in a lot cases that I would have never even thought of doing in a conventional synth.
The 2nd was to blur the line between patch and synth, so creating a synth should be no different (or any more difficult) than creating a patch.
The 3rd was to unify control and audio rate signals allowing everything to be a modulation or be modulated.
And finally I wanted to make sure that it was simple and efficient to add motion to a sound. So every node on the screen can record its own motion. E.g. if you wanted to create a simple LFO for a chorus effect just attach a constant to the delays time port, click the record button and wiggle away. After you are done recording hit stop and it will auto-magically blend the loop points for you. All motion including the step sequencer are syncable via triggers, more on this in the “Basics” section.
And that’s really what this is all about, it lets you explore soundscapes and make synths without even knowing it.
any final verdict if only 2.2 requirement to install was made part of this update request?
Yes 2.2 through 3.0 are supported in the update.
[...] mother of all synth-geeky iPhone apps finally got its 1.1 update approved, so have a go with Jasuto 1.1 for a really terrific look at what modular synthesis could be. Jasuto also has a desktop VST [...]
Hey recently bought Jasuto. Great modular app, so far.
I’m trying to load my own samples into the browsable library – nothing is working for me.
I go server > it gives me web address > I browse my computer for a .wav file, it works, then… Nothing.
Any ideas? Thanks!
can you create a post in the forum for this?
Hey just wondering why its taking sooooo long for Apple to approve this update? Its been like 3 weeks, no? Anxious to get cracking with this app! Cheers,
It’s normal… Apple’s notorious for long approval times, and it’s only been about a week and a half btw
hello
since i have version 3.1 , jasuto doesnt work any more on my iphone touch; is it normal?
christophe from brussels , belgium
sorry, i have an ipod touch, not iphone
Yeah 3.1 broke some things, I’ve already submitted an update to Apple that takes care of it. Hopefully they will approve it any day now.
hello
its still me
i try the new update, but it doesn’t work any more; it is open, but no sound, and we cant open the elements; i am a little disapointed, because i havent play with jasuto in live since a lot of time;;;
thanks
christophe
Hi there,
I’m also having problems with the update on my iPod touch.
There is no sound. This is a great application though and I hope you can get through the errors soon.
This app is absolutly fantastic and has a wonderfully thought out interface which really makes it easy to make some (dope sounding)complex patches!
But yes 3.1 has broken it for ipod touch for me,cant wait to get the update to sort this out.
Good luck!
Bought Jasuto for my iPod back in September without realizing it wasn’t able to run then. Is there a place where I can get the upgrade for free or do I have to re-purchase even though I was never able to use the older version even once?
Thanks,
Fred
Went ahead and re-downloaded. No charge. AM really enjoying this app.
THANKS!
I speak for all the CURRENT jasuto users on iPhone and say please upgrade the current app to pro instead of making your loyal users pay for the upgraded app
Ahh, Efruit, you don’t speak for all. This is an amazing app. Well worth paying for continued development. Can you buy Ableton Live once and get free upgrades forever? Didn’t think so.
Efruit is not speaking for all maybe but he is also speaking for me. i find it very strange to first sell jasuto and promise further development and later on change to a pro version. what will be next??? jasuto pro xl or jasuto plus…etc…
I bought jasuto since it was out and maybe i wouldn’t have bought it if the description didn’t say it was gonna improve…
Jasuto Classic is going to continue receiving updates as well, you just aren’t going to get everything that’s in Pro. This is very normal, every software title that I use has several different versions for varying levels of users. I’m hardly asking hundreds, just enough for me to continue developing Jasuto.
First off, I use Jasuto Classic and Pro and they both work perfectly well for me.
Secondly, it takes ONE HOUR of work to earn enough money to buy Jasuto Pro. Keep in mind that is base pay, you can’t make less then that in America as far as I know unless your employer is breaking the law. If your complaining that this dev is asking for so little money for a program that’s taken a period of MONTHS and hours and hours of work to do then you have the wrong perspective on the matter.
If 500 people bought Jasuto Pro this dev would make around 2,500. They are never going to buy it again, so that gives him enough money to rent a modest apartment for maybe a month.
An hour of work for you in return for hours and hours of work on his part and really not all that much to show for it besides an amazing app.
Greeeat thing! Let me make a suggestion: one more key in the KEY node. Especially in electronic music, playing an octave interval is common – so I believe a high C key, the possibility to play a whole octave, could make a big difference here!
Hi
Jasuto Pro is incredible. A massive improvement of Jasuto. I have one little problem. I cannot seem to get the ADSR envelope to trigger no matter where it is in relation to the filter node. If I press the hold button in the keys node I get a constant note with no ability to affect the envelope. What am doing wrong?. It works perfectly well in the simplebass preset and i have tried to emulte this preset exactly the same but the ADSR still has no affect.
Ta
where can I dl the vst version of this bad boy? Looks *very * intriguing!
