Jasuto Pro pre-release info

Postby hemicube on Fri Dec 11, 2009 4:56 am

I wanted to upload a short series of demo videos for the next version of Jasuto (Jasuto Pro) to show you what's different and new in it. My preliminary release date is the 18th of Dec, hopefully Apple will approve it within a couple of weeks after that. Initial price will be $5 so all previous Jasuto owners can get it cheap, then it's going up to $10...

Demo part 1
Demo part 2
Demo part 3
Demo part 4

As you'll see there's tons of new stuff and everything is much more fluid and flexible. Also sorry for the crappy video quality, I dunno if it's some settings in iShowU that I've got wrong or if it really does suck that bad :P

Some of the new features:
-nearly alias-free analog oscillators
-pulse width control on the square oscillator
-all the filters have been re-written and have been fattened up quite a bit
-several wave-shapers
-ADSR envelope editor
-note on/off for sustained notes
-multi-page/octave sequencer
-you can now draw notes/modulation in the sequencer
-recording into the sequencer via the midi keys
-sample recording/re-sampling
-full featured sampler
-new scene/sample browsing with support for uploading to the website
-a FTP sever has replaced the HTTP server for easier file access
-6 stage analog phaser
-granular synthesis
-manual wiring and per wire control
-number editor with beat/pitch calculator
-compiling groups of nodes into a single script node
-user definable scripting, allows you to do DSP work as well as full access to the gfx/scene engine
-send/receive nodes have replaced the old linking method
-a nodes motion can now be modified via the accelerometer
-the mic input is now in stereo
-heavily optimized, nearly 4x improvement over the current version on an iPhone 3G
-no more audio pops unless you really are running out of CPU
-VU/CPU metering

That's all I can think of right now, I think you'll be amazed at how much better this version runs on the device! I'm finishing up the manual (yes there will be a manual this time) and I'll put it up on the website when it's ready.

Enjoy the videos!

This is very exciting; at the same time I really like the way the current version works & I'm guessing that as you are releasing this as a separate app from the original jasuto, this means that the current version won't get wipes out when I update. I hope you keep updating the current version a bit, there really isn't anything wrong with it and it is simple enouh that I can hand it to someone with little knowledge of synths and they can have tons of fun with it. Maybe drop the price on the old jasuto to .99 so that newbies can jump in cheap and not be overwhelmed with posibilities and us more experienced synth nerds can buy the Pro version for whatever.

Since I paid my original price, I'm slightly annoyed that the update is going to cost me, but if you will keep adding a few features to the old one (like some more math modules) I will be happy to pay for the new one, even $10 is fine. Nothing sucks more than paying for a product that becomes total abandonware!

I have several cool things planned for Jasuto classic, but you'll have to wait and see :) So yes it will still be supported and the price will definitely drop.

I'm going to keep Jasuto Pro at $5 for a while to let everyone upgrade cheaply. I mean even if you bought Jasuto classic at the $5 price the combined total of upgrading would still be less than most apps that have this many features and wayy less than a VST/AU plugin. Also most people bought Jasuto when it was $1!! so $6 total isn't so bad methinks :)

Pro has so many new features that I just can't give it away, and really there isn't an official paid upgrade solution so this is my only option.

If you still feel it's unfair then email me and I'll probably be able to give you a promo code when I get them.

this looks like more of visual sequencing with original jasuto synth embedded in it
great!
i'm interested how it would perform on 3G (not fast cpu enabled 3GS) device

do you test it on real 3G or 3GS?
