Step by step create your first synth?

Is there a step by step tutorial that shows every step to create synth on iphone?

Thanks

It depends what you mean by 'a synth'.

If you just want to get some sound out of Jasuto:

1. Tap [Create] -> [IO] -> [Speaker]
2. Tap [Create] -> [Synth] -> [Sin] or [Saw] etc
3. Drag the Speaker under the waveform and you should have sound.

To make more complex synths:

1. Do the above (Add a speaker and a waveform)
2. Add any number of other waveforms, effects, signal processors etc. via the [Create] menu.
3. Move the added elements around to create different sounds

Hope that helps,

I must be doing something wrong. following those steps makes 2 circles on the screen of my iphone. They don't seem to be connected and there is no sound.

Could someone post an even simpler tutorial for a newbie?

In Jasuto Pro there are several ways to connect the circles or "nodes" - if you double tap on the black background and hold your finger down on the second tap, you can drag a selection marquee across both nodes. You will see them now highlighted with their text in red. Now go to the Edit menu and select "wire". Be careful not to touch anywhere else on the screen while doing this or they will de-select.

The other way to wire which some find easier is to put one finger on one node and then double tap the second node with your other finger. This will wire the two nodes. once wired, you can further edit the connection by double-tapping on the "wire" and then picking what is connected to what.

In plain old jasuto, the nodes automatically connect when they are near eachother. In Jasuto Pro you have to manually wire them as described above, but you have more control over how each node communicates with other nodes.

hmm... baby steps. Maybe I should have started with Jasuto instead of Jasuto pro - i'm into insrtant gratification.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a go and see if I can get this thing to make a sound

well, Jasuto "classic" is definitely instant gratification. Jasuto Pro takes a little more patience, but you have more control in the process of constructing your synths.

I would suggest you get regular Jasuto also, as it is lots of fun and does some unpredictable things. There will eventually be a way to export your Jasuto patches to Pro, so you can migrate to the Pro version.

Sorry deltanine, Jasuto Pro introduced different connection methods. Anyone else reading, follow Jbrave's excellent post.
